The Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.) was a fraternal organization that became popular on Swan's Island in the early 1900s. The Odd Fellows met in Epworth Hall, across from the current Methodist Church, until the group had a building of its own. The three-story hall was built shortly after 1909, and still stands tall on Harbor Road.

The first floor of the building contains an old ticket booth, a kitchen, and ample space for tables. The second floor has a stage, a large open floor, and a concession area that still holds a metal trough for icing drinks. The third floor is reserved for I.O.O.F. members. The hall was used for dances, social and religious gatherings, plays, concerts, bingo, fundraisers, town meeting, and the annual eighth grade graduation.

The Odd Fellows Hall continues to serve as a community gathering place, although its use is largely restricted to the warmer summer months. There are breakfasts in the hall on Sundays, the theater group 'The Hockamock Players' and the annual Sweet Chariot Festival uses the stage for their summer concerts.
